Seth Chase Taft was born in 1922, the grandson of president William H. Taft and son of Cincinnati mayor Charles Phelps Taft II. Following service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Taft married Francis Prindle and began a successful career with Jones, Day, Reavis and Pogue in Cleveland.
